What should I bring?

Supply lists are provided for each individual workshop. You will receive your supply list for your workshop by email after you register.

Can I bring a bad attitude?

Thanks, but no thanks. A bad attitude will ruin your time and rob you of an incredible experience.

How can I get my work in the ElenaGallery (student gallery)?

All students are welcome to display 2 paintings in the gallery for each workshop attended at Andreeva. Students are required to pay a $5 non refundable “entrance fee” for each painting they submit to be sold in the ElenaGallery. This is to cover the cost of shipping the painting back if it does not sell. Please click here to print the consignment agreement for allowing ElenaGallery to sell your work.

What time is check in if I am staying at the on campus Bed and Breakfast?

Check in is between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm the day before the workshop begins. If you get to the Academy anytime before or after this time, please go in the front door and find your name and room # posted on the table in the foyer.

How can I teach at Andreeva Portrait Academy?

Simply download an application from our resources page and submit it. Our Executive Director will contact you within a week to follow up.

Where can I stay in Salado?

Of course the most convenient place to stay is the on campus Bed and Breakfast at the Academy. Rooms fill quickly, so if you need to make other arrangements, please visit www.salado.com to get a complete list of hotels and B&B’s in Salado.

What will I eat?

APA provides a continental breakfast for all students (not just those staying on campus) each morning at 8:00 am. Students are on their own for lunch and dinner. There are an abundance of restaurants and a grocery store all within walking distance from the Academy. You may store any food you buy from the store or leftovers from restaurants in the refrigerators on campus.

How many people are in each workshop?

This is variable depending on the type of workshop. Still life workshops can typically accommodate up to 18 and portrait workshops typically hold about 13. It all depends on the teacher preference and type of workshop.

What is the refund/cancellation policy?

How long are workshops?

Workshops range from 3 days to 2 weeks.

What time do workshops begin and end?

Workshops begin at 9:30 am and end at 4:30 pm. This means the teacher’s obligation to teach is only between these hours. Most of our teachers enjoy spending time in the evenings with students to give them individual attention, but that is out of the goodness of their own heart. If teachers want to take evenings off, they are welcome to do that.

Can I travel with my paints and materials?

How can I ship my wet paintings home?

This is up to you. You may either purchase a box from the art supply store in the ElenaGallery or you may choose to leave your painting on consignment to be sold. It is completely up to you.

What time does the studio close?

During workshops, the studio does not close at all. If you are a night owl or early riser, you will have plenty of time to work in the studio. Most students enjoy staying late in the evening with a glass of wine to finish masterpieces they created that day.

What time are ElenaGallery and Andreeva Gallery open?

ElenaGallery and AndreevaGallery are open from 10:00 am to 7 pm each day workshops are in session. The last night of the workshop, we will have a reception in the gallery for all students.

Is there an art supply store in Salado?

There is a small art supply store inside ElenaGallery. We have basic paints, brushes, canvases, and other supplies. We prepare art supply kits for students who want all of the exact brands and supplies the teacher recommends. Your supplies will be waiting for you when you arrive in Salado the night before the workshop. It is your responsibility to get these supplies home.
